Statement on Bondi Mass-Casualty Shooting

Sydney, Australia – Dec 15, 2025 – Australia is reeling from the mass-casualty shooting at Bondi on Sunday evening, and our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all those whose lives have been shattered by this violence.

The attack occurred in the vicinity of a public Hanukkah gathering, and many media outlets and political leaders have framed this as a targetted attack against the Jewish community. At this stage, NSW Police have confirmed via their official media channels that the incident is being treated as terror-related, while the full facts, motives and ideological drivers remain under investigation.

It is understandable that Jewish Australians are feeling fear, grief and deep concern. Any act of violence that causes a community to feel unsafe while gathering peacefully for religious or cultural life must be taken with the utmost seriousness.

At the same time, it is critical that we allow law enforcement to complete their investigation and that public commentary avoids speculation or language that could inflame tensions or place further communities at risk.

Allies in Colour stands in solidarity with Jewish Australians and with all communities who are feeling vulnerable in this moment. Violence that targets people in public spaces or creates fear among specific communities is an attack on the social fabric of our country.

This is a moment that calls for restraint, responsibility and compassion from political leaders, from the media, and from all of us.
