How many government advisors does it take to change a lightbulb?

Dear Australia,

Here’s a math question for you:

How many advisors does it take to change a lightbulb so that the government finally sees the light? 🤔

When the government relies on advisory stakeholders from funded bodies for advice, but ends up delivering policies that miss the mark, it begs the question – how many advisors does it really take? 🤷‍♀️

(Note that many of these advisors come from govt funded peak bodies/commissions)

Advisors claiming their advice wasn’t heeded leading to flawed policies, while the government strives to make the right moves for re-election, poses a conundrum.

And if we, the people, must navigate these advisory channels to advocate for our needs, the puzzle deepens.🕵‍♀️

So, when individuals boast about years or even decades on advisory panels, is it a flex anymore? If it’s true your advice isn’t being heeded then why are you still sitting on these panels? Who are you actually benefiting?
